Ok everyone, here's a special shout out to all you folks that are planning to get away this month or anytime in the future, A very good friend of mine, Camille Brown has, after many years of traveling, made a career out of doing something that she loves – selling travel and helping others plan their dream vacations!

Camille understands that many people think that it is much easier and less expensive to use do-it-yourself travel

Introducing Kayla: This Little One Is Tooo Talented

Some of you might remember this little face. She was originally introduced to Kevin B. Watkins Photography via N'Ferno Dance Studio. Kayla is the most talented 7-year old that I've ever worked with. She's super smooth on the set and needs little to no direction. Kayla was also featured in my recent informercial and may be cast in the upcoming informercial/video soon to be shot next year. I had a great time working with her on her shoot last month. U go gurl!!

Introducing Daya

Daya visited my StudioSegovia and it didn't take very long to recognize that this young lady from the Phillipines had a naturalness that made photographing her quite easy. With little to no direction, Daya worked the set with a variety of looks and poses.

From stylish to Raven gear, from casual to dressy, Daya's diverse look was tight. Daya's next shoot will be on-location, somewhere in VA.

Daya is currently slated to appear in the upcoming KBWP informercial/video soon to be shot in 2012.

Introducing: Basee Musiq

I met Bassee through a mutual associate one evening at StudioSegovia. Bassee comes from the music and entertainment industry. Based out of ATL, she is a rapper/singer/actress. Bassee also hosts major event's for both entertainers and professional athletes.  "Base" is not only creative musically but also is a hair stylist and creates her own line of wigs.

Bassee will no doubt be a regular at KBWP for her agency pictures.

Introducing Dorothy Dandridge

In the first of the Classic Image.ry Series, model Sabrina T. researched the actress Dorothy Dandridge. After weeks of studying her style and fashion, Sabrina visited the Studio46 for her Classic Image.ry session.

Again, the SuperTeam of Lester Bailey, Thaiese Flournoy and Alaja Greene did their magic in transforming a young lady who had up to this day had only done one type of photography into a old school diva. I only wish I had taken a "before" shot of Sabrina because the "after" the SuperTeam shots were gorgeous! Sabrina will be back again soon.

My favorite of the whole session is the shot above. This took her a minute to get this pose right, but once she did, she nailed it.

Nearing the end of the shoot, Sabrina's sleepy look made the shot to the left a classic.
The shot to the right was created by my hair stylist, Alaja Greene. Don't ask me how she came up with how to this on a wingback chair, but she did! And as for the look below, Sabrina did her research and actually found this picture of Dorothy Dandridge in an old magazine, got the same clothes and shoes, brought the picture to the studio, and we re-shot it!!

Infomercial Official !!!

Kayla

Kirby and Kia

Kayla

Naomi

Abeni

Tia

T and Chris

Harlym

Aries

Tashia
So, with no storms, fires, floods, (yes we had a flood after the earthquake and hurricane) or any other weather issues, we finally got this infomercial done. Everyone in the cast arrived at Studio46 on time, (well, except for Nakia who's always late). Because of the hurricane the previous Sunday, my fashion stylist Josett was not able to come out on the re-scheduled date and unfortunately, Cierre Lanae was hospitalized. But everyone else made it and all I can say was Bani Productions was on top of their game. The filming was long, but in the end, I'm excited to say that it was a great filming and I can't wait to see the final product. I have to do the voice overs at Bani Studios later this week. Here's a few stills from the upcoming commercial, which will be seen on www.kevinbwatkinsphotgraphy.com very soon!!  Big ups to Kayla H., Kayla F., Naomi, Bonnie, Amina, Karima, Kirby, Tia, Harlym, Rogue, Abeni, Chris and Nakia.

KBWP Shoots Baltimore Wedding

Judah

Levi

Levi and Judah

Happy Couple
Had a wedding and reception today in B-more that actually turned out quite good. The bride and groom, Andy and Daphne were excellent to work with, which is saying alot since most wedding casts are hard to deal with. But these folks were cool. Wedding started (nearly) on time. Only 1.5 hours late! lol.  But it was alright. Best thing about this shoot however was the little son of the father, named Judah. This kid was sooo photogenic that I spent quite a bit of time shooting him. haha. They live in ATL, but Andy and Daphne said that they would bring Judah back to B-more for a future photo session.

Cancelled Filming of Infomercial

No loss of power..............yet..........but we got trees down everywhere. My car is not crushed but one of my neighbors Camry is totaled. Tree crushed it. Disappointed that I had to call all the participants to tell them the filming of our commercial is cancelled today. :(  Headed out to First Watch (a restaurant) to get me some over-sized buttermilk and walnut pancakes. I'll make my own bacon and eggs!  Then watch some movies until the wind blows the cable out. Comcast never survives a storm.............

I got to run out and find some food!

Trapped In the House

Ok, so I thought the newscasters were getting this stuff wrong, but I guess not. We are in full alert and this hurricane thing is actually happening. This is hard to believe esp. since the ground just moved under our feet a few dayz ago. I don't know how long b4 the lights and electricity goes out so I gotta blog this quick. Trees are swayin' in the wind. Just had a power surge not to long ago! Oh lord. What if I lose power? How will I do my post-production work? And how will I catch up on my Tyler Perry movies?? hmmmm.... Let me do some things b4 the power goes out.............

Are U Kiddin' Me?? An Earthquake in BALTIMORE???

OK, so by now, everyone that has CNN has seen and heard that we had an actual earthquake, in Baltimore, MD. Are you kiddin' me?? OK, so it wasn't a quake that folks from California would get frazzled over, but for us folks on the east coast, it was not somethin' we want to experience again. Where was I? Working. On the phone actually talking to a client. Somewhere in mid-conversation, the building started shaking. I thought it was a big truck rumblin' through the neighborhood. Then the furniture started moving around, and then IT happened. The FLOOR shifted. And that's when I hung up on the client. I get out in the street to find hundreds of people wondering what the heck just happened. People were on cell phones but service was slowed down. T-mobile, as usual, couldn't handle the major event and just shut down. So I get in the car, listen to the radio and hear that this thing was felt as far down as Virginia and as far up as NY.

Tomorrow, I'll check the studio for damage! Or maybe I'll wait a couple of dayz...........................

A Night At Segovia's

Working out of my second studio location, known around Pikesville as "Segovia's", I had the chance to shoot a young lady I met while working at the recent Bronner Brother Hair Convention/Show at the Baltimore Convention Center. Sherrell is one of Baltimore's leading hair product designers and is the force behind Four Ladies Hair and Beauty Products. If u need info on her, just shoot her a line at 4ladiesww@gmail.com. Anyway, Sherrell was a bit shy at the thought of a shoot but she came to Segovia's and after a few minutes, was knockin' it out. Needless to say, she'll have another shoot really soon.

Cierre Lanae Part II

Cierre at Graffiti Alley

On Track!
Cierre is one of my fave's. She always has creative ideas and for this shoot, we went down to Graffiti Bridge, lol, (only old Prince fans will catch that one). It was hotter than July, about 90 degrees in the shade, but we knocked it out. She had another location to shoot at, but the girl couldn't remember how to get there, so we opted for the train tracks. In the end, Cierre did a great job!

KBWP in NYC

KBWP (Kevin B. Watkins Photography) hit the streets of NY for a few days and as usual the camera was in effect. Had a great time chillin' out, no scheduled shoots, which made it fun! NY in the summer is the place to be!

Technicolor Shoot

Its been a minute since I've updated this blogsite, but I promise to keep this thing going and on point. So what's happened since the last time I blogged? A lot! Just to bring you up to speed, earlier this summer, on July 4, my MUA, Amina Garrett-Scott hit me up with a concept she wanted to try out. She called it a "Technicolor Shoot" and basically it was her way of doing very colorful makeup combined with colorful fashion for a very colorful shoot. At first I was leary, but once we got into it, it was a great shoot. I invited a couple of  my favorite clients, Aries and Sharron and they had a great time and did an excellent job. Here's a couple shots from the shoot. Let me know what u think!

Vintage Photography

Kevin B. Watkins Photography and New Vision Photography allows its clients to step back in time by using their creative imaginations to photograph in any era or vintage theme that they can put together. To date, some models have styled and attired themselves in fashions from the 50's and 60's. Others have photographed in the the look and style of the early 80's. Still others creativity took them back to the Prohibition Era as they researched that period and came dressed in the styles that dominated the 20's and 30's. Take a look at some of this month's work!!
